Before you book

21 questions, answered

Tariffs and timings come from the public pages of Shree Somnath Trust and are indicative. Anything not answered here can be asked through the enquiry form.

What is the room tariff at Sagar Darshan Guest House?

Per room per night: Premier Room ₹3,400, Super Deluxe Room ₹3,800, 2 Bed Suite ₹4,600 and 4 Bed Suite Room ₹5,000. These are the rates published by Shree Somnath Trust. GST is added at billing and a refundable deposit is taken for each room. Rates are indicative, so the reception confirms the current tariff when you book. Full details are on the tariff page.

How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?

Yes, the deposit is refundable. It is ₹4,400 for the Premier Room, ₹4,500 for the Super Deluxe Room, ₹5,500 for the 2 Bed Suite and ₹6,000 for the 4 Bed Suite Room. It is returned when you check out, less any extra charges you have agreed to or the cost of any damage. Ask for a receipt when you pay it.

Is GST included in the tariff?

No. The tariffs shown on this website do not include GST. Goods and Services Tax is added at billing, at the rate the Government of India has notified for hotel rooms at that price, and appears as a separate line on your bill. The reception will tell you the total amount, including GST, when they confirm your booking.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 11:00 AM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. If your train or bus arrives early in the morning, or you will reach Somnath late at night, mention your arrival time in your enquiry. The reception is open 24x7, so a late arrival is not a problem once the booking is confirmed.

Do all rooms have a sea view?

Yes. Every room at Sagar Darshan Guest House is sea facing, from the Premier Room to the 4 Bed Suite Room. The name itself, Sagar Darshan, means a view of the sea. Balconies look out over the water; if a balcony matters to you, ask the reception which rooms have one when you book.

Are the rooms air conditioned?

Shree Somnath Trust's published tariff and facilities list do not say whether the rooms are air conditioned, so we will not claim it here. If air conditioning matters to you, particularly between March and June when Somnath is hot, ask the reception about the specific room you are offered before you confirm the booking.

Is hot water available in the rooms?

Yes. The rooms have running hot water, heated by a solar system. If you need hot water at a particular hour, for example before the 7:00 AM aarti, mention it at the reception when you check in and they will tell you what to expect for your room.

Is food available at the guest house?

Yes. Sagar Darshan has its own restaurant, which is pure vegetarian. Only vegetarian food is served on the premises. The restaurant closes at 11:00 PM, late enough for dinner after the 7:00 PM aarti and the 7:45 PM light and sound show. Ask the reception about meal times and anything specific for children or elders.

Is parking available?

Yes. Parking is available for guests arriving by car or taxi. If you are driving to Somnath or travelling with a hired car and driver, tell the reception when you book so they know to expect the vehicle. Once you have parked, you will not need it for the temple, which is about a five minute walk away.

Is there a lift?

Yes. The guest house has a lift, which helps when you are travelling with elders, small children or heavy luggage. There is also power backup for outages, so the lift and lights keep running. If anyone in your group finds stairs difficult, mention it in your enquiry so the reception can suggest a suitable room.

How far is the guest house from Somnath temple?

About 400 m. The guest house is on Somnath Mandir Road in Prabhas Patan, and the walk to the Somnath Jyotirlinga temple takes about five minutes. Somnath Beach is also about five minutes on foot and Baan Stambh about 600 m. See Somnath temple timings to plan your darshan.

How do I book a room?

Fill in the enquiry form on this site with your dates, room type and number of guests, including the ages of any children. The reception confirms the room, the tariff, the deposit and the GST. Official Shree Somnath Trust bookings are also open on somnath.org. Nothing is paid on this website.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation, change of date and no-show terms are confirmed by the reception with your booking, and they apply to any advance and deposit you pay. Our cancellation and refund policy page explains how this works. For bookings made through somnath.org, the Shree Somnath Trust terms on that website apply instead.

What ID proof do I need to check in?

Every adult guest should carry a valid government issued photo ID, such as an Aadhaar card, passport, driving licence or voter ID card, as hotels in Gujarat are required to record guest identity. Foreign nationals must show their passport and visa, and the guest house reports their stay to the authorities as the law requires.

Can I get an extra bed?

Yes. An extra bed is available on request, at an extra charge. An extra person beyond the beds listed for the room is also charged extra. The Trust's published tariff does not list the amount, so mention how many of you are travelling in your enquiry and the reception will give you the full figure before you confirm.

Are children charged, and is a cradle available?

A child above 10 years is charged as an extra person. A cradle for an infant is available on request. When you send your enquiry, give the ages of all the children travelling so that the reception can confirm the right room and the correct total. For a family of four, the 4 Bed Suite Room keeps everyone together.

Is the guest house wheelchair accessible?

The guest house has a lift, which helps guests who cannot manage stairs. A full accessibility description, such as door widths or bathroom fittings, is not published by the Trust, so we cannot promise step free access everywhere. If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, tell the reception in your enquiry and ask them to describe the room and the route to it.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes. Wi-Fi is free for guests. It is useful for checking train tickets, maps and temple announcements, and for calls home. Like any Wi-Fi in a busy pilgrim town, speed can vary at peak times, so download anything important, such as tickets and boarding passes, before you travel.

Which payment modes are accepted?

Credit cards, debit cards and UPI are accepted at the guest house. GST is added at billing, and a refundable deposit is taken for each room. No payment is taken on this website; the enquiry form only sends your dates and details. Ask for a receipt for every payment you make at the reception.

Which is the nearest railway station?

Veraval railway station is the nearest, about 7 km from the guest house. From the station, an auto rickshaw or taxi takes you to Somnath Mandir Road. Check current trains to Veraval on the Indian Railways or IRCTC website. Our guide on how to reach Somnath covers train, road and air in detail.

Which is the nearest airport?

Diu airport is the nearest, about 90 km away, and the onward journey to Somnath is by road. Many travellers instead fly to Rajkot, about 190 km away, or Ahmedabad, about 400 km away, where there are more flights, and continue by road or rail. Plan the road leg into your arrival time.
