What we collect through this website and at check-in, why, who sees it and how long it is kept. Written plainly, with no cookies and no tracking.
Who we are
This website belongs to Sagar Darshan Guest House, also known as Sagar Darshan Atithi Gruh, Somnath Mandir Road, Prabhas Patan, Somnath, Gir Somnath, Gujarat 362268. The guest house is managed by Shree Somnath Trust. In this policy "we" means the guest house.
This policy covers this website and the details you give the reception when you stay. Bookings made on somnath.org are handled by Shree Somnath Trust under the privacy terms on that website.
What the enquiry form collects
The booking enquiry form asks for your name, mobile number, arrival and departure dates, room type, number of guests and an optional note. That is all. It does not ask for ID numbers, payment details or your address, and you should not type them into the note.
At present the form does not send your details anywhere. When you press the button, the page checks what you typed and shows it back to you in a summary on the same screen, so that you can send it to the reception yourself. Nothing is transmitted to us or stored on a server. If you close the page, the details are gone.
When the guest house WhatsApp number is published, the same form will open WhatsApp on your device with your details typed into a message to the reception, and this policy will be updated to say so.
What we collect when you stay
Like every hotel and guest house in Gujarat, we must record who stays with us. At check-in the reception records the name, address and contact number of guests and sees a valid government photo ID for each adult. We may keep a copy of the ID. Guests who are not Indian citizens show their passport and visa, and their stay is reported to the immigration authorities through Form C, as Indian law requires.
We also keep the billing record of your stay: dates, room, tariff, GST, deposit and payments. Card and UPI payments are processed by the bank or payment provider at the reception; we do not see or keep your full card number.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry and confirm a room, the tariff and the deposit.
- To check you in, keep the guest register and meet police and immigration requirements.
- To bill you, collect and refund the deposit, and file GST as the law requires.
- To contact you about your booking or anything left behind after you leave.
We do not sell your details, and we do not send marketing messages.
Who we share it with
Your details are shared only where the law requires it or where it is needed to provide your stay: with the police or immigration authorities when they ask for the guest register or a Form C report, with tax authorities for GST, with the bank or payment provider for card and UPI payments, and with Shree Somnath Trust, which manages the guest house.
How long we keep it
The guest register and billing records are kept for as long as police, tax and accounting rules require. Enquiries that do not become a booking are not kept on purpose; if they reached the reception by message they are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies. It has no analytics, no advertising tags and no tracking pixels, and it stores nothing in your browser.
Two outside services are involved. The typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers and Google sees your IP address, as it does for any website that uses Google Fonts. The "Open in Google Maps" links take you to Google Maps, which is then governed by Google's own policy. Like any web server, the server that hosts this website may keep a short technical log of requests, including IP addresses.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to erase it where we are not required by law to keep it. You can also raise a grievance about how we have handled it.
To do any of these, contact us in writing to the guest house at Somnath Mandir Road, Prabhas Patan, Somnath, Gir Somnath, Gujarat 362268 or in person at the reception, which is open 24x7. We will reply within a reasonable time and, where the law sets one, within that time.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, for example when the enquiry form starts sending messages, we will update this page and the date at the top.
